• Learn how I reduce large amounts of qualitative data with a team

I'm Katie, a PhD candidate in Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington, Seattle, where I'm advised by Charlotte P. Lee and Batya Friedman. My dissertation research focuses on the intersection of meditation practices and technology use. To explore this intersection, I'm conducting year-long ethnography at a meditation center, in addition to a completed 3-month ethnography in an online Buddhist community. I'm currently analyzing data on a study of group meditation over video chat, and am planning a study on activity tracking and mediation. Check out my blog to read a little more about what I've been thinking lately, or find me on tumblr at .
